...Valencia, Spain, that is. As a young individual who has been lucky enough to visit this culturally and historically elaborate city twice, with complete intentions of returning as fast as one possibly can as a full-time, unemployed student; I think it's safe to say Valencia is one of the most enchanting places in the world. The city thrives with mid-day cafe con leche dates, fiestas, laughter, five-hour dinners with tables filled with dozens of exquisite tapas, and intense conversations and laughter that last until early hours of the morning. The scent of hot bocadillos, cafe and the famous jamon serrano fill the air of the city streets daily, which are decorated with some of the world's most complex and captivating architecture.
The city also holds some of the most astoundingly pure, good-hearted, and intellectual people that will truly amaze an outsider. There are over a million people in Valencia, yet it is uncommon for someone not to give up his or her seat for you on the metro, start an in-depth conversation in a grocery store line, and hold the door open for you even though both arms are full of shopping bags. It's these frequent moments that will truly change you. There's twenty percent unemployment, yet that doesn't hinder the Spanish from doing the things they do best: Spending time with the ones you love most, living life for each moment, and an extensive amount of partying. The city holds so much life, passion, motivation, love, and sophistication...an unbeatable combination that makes up a truly unforgettable city.
